Let there be light!

This week we used the electricity circuit resources to try and make light bulbs light up. Miss Lowther gave us two batteries, two wires and a light bulb and told us that we had to join them up to make a circle. It was quite a challenge but we did it! It was exciting working together, sharing ideas and seeing the bulbs light up. Once we made our circuits we drew and labelled diagrams of them. What great scientists we are in room 1!

Ppppopcorn

Today we made some popcorn necklaces. It was fun because we got to eat the bits when they fell off. At playtime we got to eat all of our necklaces. by Shae and Timera.

T is for teddy bear

Last week we studied the letter 't' and this was an excellent chance to bring in our favourite teddy bears. We read 'My best bear' then described our own teddies. Here is our descriptive writing.

Our self portraits

At the beginning of term we talked about the different parts of our faces and looked closely in the mirror at each part. Then we painted self portraits of ourselves, remembering to look in the mirror to see the shape and colour of each area. We are very proud of our pictures.

Chalk writing

As well as practising writing in class we like to make the most of the good weather and go outside to write with the chunky chalks. After writing some key words we are learning Miss Lowther calls them out and we have to jump on them. It is lots of fun and some exercise too!

Buddy reading fun

On Tuesdays we visit our buddy class, Room 5. We sometimes read our reading books to them, play games or do art activities together. But today we brought some word and alphabet bingo games to share. It was good fun and helped Room 5 practise their high frequency words too.

Splat!!

During guided reading we have been playing a new word game called Splat. Children take turns to call out a high frequency word and everyone has to find it and splat it as fast as they can. We broke a splatter on the first day, someone was a bit too keen!
